Sadly, there comes a time when a model railroad collection must be sold to a new generation of operators. Your new home doesn't have the space; you'd rather buy a new RV to railfan across the country; an estate needs resolution. Whatever the reason, NHI is here to help you obtain the highest value for the train collection. We do not buy collections - we facilitate your selling the items for the best-possible price.

We are not the only company to offer this service. We are, however, the one company that, driven by our own love of model railroading, will see the process through to success. Since we are not buying your collection, but helping you sell it, you will not be faced with a "pennies on the dollar" offer - wondering if it is too little. Here' how we get you top dollar:

1. We bring the collection to our facility for processing. This includes a detailed inventory, grading, and initial valuation.


2. The best pieces are offered to our private network of collectors. This gets you the highest prices - often at or above MSRP on new, out-of-production, items. Highest prices come with discontinued and mint condition items.


3. Items not purchased by the network are placed on our in-house eStore for a determined length of time (your choice - usually 60 to 90 days, but can be shorter). Through our online eStore, you can expect to receive 60 to 90% of MSRP.


4. Remaining items after the eStore period are placed on eBay or other model railroad friendly auction sites. You can expect to receive 40 to 60% of MSRP.

Again, we recognize we are not the only company you can choose to help sell your collection. We are different in several ways - we do not charge you for the shipping supplies. If we underestimate the shipping costs - we eat it. There is no minimum commission. If an item sells for a dime, all we get is our percentage of that dime - regardless how much time went into processing the item. All we ask is that you allow us to make the determination as to what items to package together in lots or to sell individually - we understand how to get the best prices for model railroading items.

Our fee is a flat 22% of the final selling amount. Out of this fee, we will pay the auction selling fees (9%) and credit card fees (3%). Packaging and postage is charged to the buyer - and we absorb the fees if we under-charge! There are no hidden fees and we do not expect you to pay for any of the materials for the items to reach their final destination. There is no per-item fee, no minimum fee, and no hassles at a difficult time. We will even pick up moderate and large size collections in the greater Indiana region. Smaller items can be mailed to us after a selling contract has been signed.
